I wrote this

the last night I saw you,

etched it on bended knees.

I know what it is like

to drop through ether,

for the first time  swim

through  stars.

Your body smelled of

carnation and thyme,

your taste remains on my tongue.

In the narrow bed of our bodies

I didn’t need air, I breathed you.

  1. OMG is that wonderful, Holly! Such deep connection and the feeling as if there were only the two on this planet, nothing else counts. I have been listening to the song while reading… the perfect combination!

  2. Fie ca lumina Învierii Mântuitorului să vă inunde casa și să vă aducă numai armonie, fericire și multă iubire. Paște fericit!
Holy feast of the Resurrection bring you the four divine mysteries: trust, light, love, hope. Happy Easter!

Resurrection to flood the house and bring you only harmony, happiness and much love. Happy Easter !

  3. I love your poem, but especially these words:

    “Your body smelled of

    carnation and thyme,

your taste remains on my tongue.”

We have seen k.d. lang in person twice now, once with Tony Bennett. Her cover of “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen is as good as it gets, plus she kills with a couple of Neil Young’s songs.

  4. HOLLY—Thank you for your visit and liking one (or more) of my posts. This work of yours is eons beyond my own love poetry—most of mine was rather declarative…and a long time ago! 😀 I love your poetry, and I love yu as one of my best poet friends. Thanks for remembering and appreciating the “old guy”! 🙂
