I should have known

The past is an eternal loop.

Nothing has changed or

altered course.

Life rushes  on and I follow.

Waking to a shining morning ,

spilled drops are from the sky

and not my eyes.

I still tell lies and say that I am  joking.

A maelstrom of moods,  I am irony.

My galaxy is  mapped in memory,

my body etched with constellations.

The alps  have loosened their foothold

and the current of the sea pulls outward,

the shore of little interest without you.

  1. Hi Holly,

I learned your name from lovely Diana Wallace Peach of Myths in the Mirror, who referred to you at Richard’s Blog. Thank you for your lovely poem that introduced me to Cigarettes after Sex. I fell in love with the song and the group, and I’ll be buying their album. Since last night, I have been listening to their songs, over and over and over, and Dreaming, Dreaming, Dreaming …. Fondest wishes, 🙂

    • I’m so glad to “meet ” you ! I love that you like this song as much as I do. A lot of people don’t realize that this is sung by a man, he has such a beautiful and unusual voice. Thank you so much, Fond wishes to you as well! 🙂

      • Yes, initially I thought it was a woman vocalist, then I looked them up and they call his voice androgenous. Amazing! I also thought this voice sounded like Aime Mann, another great singer-composer. Reminded me of her voice in the sound track of Magnolia. Paul Thomas Anderson wrote that screenplay upon listening to her album. I wonder what he’ll think of this group, maybe another film? Nice to “meet” you too, Holly. Fondest wishes, 🙂

  2. I used to go crazy listening to Sade’s “I am a black magic woman…” a few decades back, and now the same thing happens reading your poems, Holly. The poetic images here are just as magical. Keep rocking…🤗
