Our whispers have grown silent
still your eyes beg me to save you
from your cage of tedium,
kept secrets, mundane tables,
and dormant fireplace.
We are caught in the stalled sundown
between the border of light and dark
and in my heart, I know yours is tired.
Take this house I built for us,
its rooms once pure and white.
I want you to have it, a fortress of
desire and dreams in vivid hues
where I no longer visit.
I am the arc of a cougars back
in search of something wild
that goes straight to my head.
