adorned the hills with
spruce and berries and snuffed
fall’s remains with her blanket of snow.
At the top of fixed stairs among
cobwebs and spiders
Christmas lights lay abandoned
while witchy tree limbs begged to be trimmed.
I waited for wise men to come riding in,

bring peace to all and light the universal darkness.
When all seemed lost pounding hooves tore the sky
and lit the night with all the colors of the world.
Glistening hues fell upon the begging tree…
violet, indigo, silver, and gold
